Never Say Never Again (Sean Connery) James Bond Revisited

The year 1983 was perhaps the biggest in the James Bond franchise's history, as it's the only time not one but two 007 movies hit theaters. One was the official Roger Moore/EON entry, Octopussy, which opened to blockbuster business worldwide, while the other was the one-off Never Say Never Again, which featured none other than Sean Connery slipping on his tux for the first time in twelve years. How did this come to be? The story is a complicated one involving lawyers, rights issues, copyright, and more.

Suffice to say it was an event or rather an anti-climax as the film was indifferently received by confused fans. A remake of Thunderball, Never Say Never Again is a unique Bond film in that, in many ways, it's not a James Bond movie at all. How so?
