In a recent interview promoting her Lifetime original movie AN AMISH MURDER (why, God?), Neve Campbell has addressed whether or not another SCREAM sequel will be in her future. Her answer is a decidedly mixed bag…
When asked if she’d be willing to return the role of Sidney Prescott, Campbell replied:
“We’ll see. I’m not sure they’re going to make it, to be honest. If that were to come up again and they were to approach me, I’d have a chat with them about it.”
So the good news is Neve would probably be down for another entry. The bad news is she doesn’t sound too optimistic there’s going to be another entry. Despite decent reviews and a positive response from genre fans, SCREAM 4 underperformed in the North American box office. As such, even Wes Craven himself has expressed doubts over whether or not fans want a fifth entry. While the Weinstein Company is known for milking a cash cow dry (albeit slowly– see the HELLRAISER remake), the future of SCREAM 5 remains up in the air.
