Praise the Lord and hold onto your prayer beads because Netflix's Warrior Nun is coming back to drive the demons away and live to fight another day!
Netflix has renewed the series for a second season, and recently showrunner Simon Barry had gathered key cast members – Alba Baptista, Toya Turner, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young, and Olivia Delcan. – to tell them the big news. To say that their reactions are priceless would be an unholy understatement, and I urge you to watch the footage of their collective excitement in the tweet posted below:
Inspired by the Manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.
Warrior Nun stars Alba Baptista (Ava), Tristán Ulloa (Father Vincent), Kristina Tonteri-Young (Sister Beatrice), Lorena Andrea (Sister Lilith), Toya Turner (Shotgun Mary), and Thekla Reuten (Jillian Salvius). Also featured as a part of the series are Sylvia De Fanti (Mother Superion), Emilio Sakraya (J.C.), Olivia Delcán (Sister Camila), Joaquim De Almeida (Cardinal Duretti), May Simón Lifschitz (Chanel), Dimitri Abold (Randall), and Charlotte Vega (Zori).
Ava and her fellow warriors of the Order of the Cruciform Sword will have their work cut out for them upon their return to Netflix, especially now that evil angels, determined demons, and double-crossing douchebag clergy are on the loose. In fact, I would think that it's going to take every weapon they have a whole lot of prayers before they can win the day. One thing is for sure, I'll be tuning in to watch them try, as I had really enjoyed the first season. Lord have mercy!
