I've never been a huge comic fan, and thus it's not hard to imagine that I'm not much of a Marvel fan. Sure I dig some of the movies (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR was pretty badass) but for the most part, I'd rather watch the new LEPRECHAUN film than the new AVENGERS flick. True story. But that said, I've always been a big fan of Marvel's THE PUNISHER. Be it, Dolph Lundgren or Tom Jane, it's pretty hard to f*ck up THE PUNISHER.
Let's just forget PUNISHER: WAR ZONE ever happened.
Anyhow, it's with this love of THE PUNISHER in mind that I'm happy to pass along the news that Netflix has announced a premiere date for the much-anticipated second season. Yep, the new season – which once again stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle – is all set to shoot Netflix in the back of the face come January 2019. Word of the premiere came by way of a new video highlighting the service's January scheduling. Unfortunately, the video has since been removed by the powers that be, so you're just going to have to take our parent site JoBlo.com's word that it did indeed exist this morning.
Here's the official synopsis for MARVEL'S THE PUNISHER Season 2:
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.
The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and Bohemian Risk Productions, with creator Steve Lightfoot serving as showrunner. On top of Bernthal, the second season is all set to star Ben Barnes (WESTWORLD), Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Josh Stewart (THE COLLECTOR), Floriana Lima, and Giorgia Whigham. Marvel's THE PUNISHER Season 2 will arrive on Netflix in January of 2019.
