As much as I'd like to include some of my more um … colorful college-related stories in this article, doing so would more than likely result in my immediate termination fromt the site, so I'll just leave it all to your wild imaginations, yeah? Let's just say I spent a fair amount of time watching THE DARK CRYSTAL, BREAKIN' 2, and LEGEND while partaking in themes inspired by Ken Russell's ALTERED STATES.
Allow me to switch gears for moment … How would you like to start your Memorial Day week off with a little adulthood regression? Sounds nice, doesn't it? If you're interested, I know of a little show called FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE starring Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Fred Savage, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxxon, and Jae Suh Park that's set to expand your mind when it makes its Netflix debut on July 14th.
You can check out the teaser trailer for the upcoming show below:
In FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE, a group of friends from Harvard played by Keegan-Michael Key (Ethan), Cobie Smulders (Lisa), Annie Parisse (Sam), Nat Faxon (Nick), Fred Savage (Max) and Jae Suh Park (Marianne) are facing down their forties. With interwoven and oftentimes complicated relationships with one another FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE is a comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past. The series is executive produced by Nicholas Stoller (NEIGHBORS, NEIGHBORS: SORORITY RISING, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, GET HIM TO THE GREEK), who also directed all eight episodes. Additionally, Francesca Delbanco serves as an executive producer and writer.
Maybe this is just my nostalgia talking, but I'm stoked to see that Fred Savage is still in the game. I never would have guessed that he'd grow up to have the comedic chops that he's displayed in projects like AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER, THE GRINDER, and now FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE. While we've only got a teaser so far, the tone and ensemble cast shown here will be more than enough to get me enrolled when FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE makes its July 14th debut on Netflix. How about you?
