Netflix trying to get rights to distribute Polaroid

As many of you know at this point, The Weinstein Company is all but dead. And rightfully so. But that's neither here nor there. What does matter is that the fall of the once great Hollywood company means there are more than a handful of projects left in limbo, including MTV's SCREAM: THE TV SERIES season 3.

Another project caught in the middle of this development Hell is director Lars Klevberg's POLAROID. But at least this film seems like it might have a savior on the horizon as Deadline reports Netflix is looking to pick up rights to the film. 

Written by Blair Butler (HELL FEST) and starring Kathryn Prescott, Tyler Young, Grace Zabriskie, and Mitch Pileggi, the film follows 

High school loner Bird Fitcher, who has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious vintage Polaroid camera she stumbles upon. But it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end. 

TWC originally had the film, which was produced by Roy Lee and Chris Bender, all set to roll out on October 4th of last year, but then by Halloween, the film was pulled off the schedule indefinitely. And this isn't the first time Netflix has snagged the rights to a dying movie as they grabbed up THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX famously earlier this year.

The director of this new teen horror film, Lars Klevberg is kind of a hot commodity at the moment as he was recently named the director chosen to helm MGM's upcoming CHILD'S PLAY remake. Does this mean POLAROID will (no pun intended) "develop" soon? We'll let you know when we hear more!
