Yet another show that I've been meaning to watch on Netflix, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, has just been renewed for a second season! The original comedy series will return with a 10 episode order in tow, much to the delight of all the fans. Production is expected to get underway later this year.
For those of you who are like me, and have yet to check the program out, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE is based on Justin Simien's highly-praised premiere indie feature which takes place with the walls of a white Ivy League university where racial tensions are churning within its hallowed halls. From what I've gathered, the show is staged as a satirical look at a group of Winchester University students of color as they fight for equality and social justice. The show also takes a hard look at the subjects of cultural appropriation and political turmoil by way of broadcast activism that is cleverly set against a millennial backdrop. The series stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson.
Simien, the creator of the show will executive produce while Yyvette Lee Bowser is set to return as the satire's showrunner. Stephanie Allain and Julia Lebedev will again act as the show's executive producers as well.
DEAR WHITE PEOPLE season 2 goes into later this year.
