While our U.S. readers will be able to check out Robert Rodriguez's upcoming "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" on the newly launched El Rey Network available on Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable when it premieres next week on March 11, our friends internationally have been wondering how or if they'll be able to peep this crazy-looking rehash/remake of the popular 1996 cult classic film of the same title. Here comes Netflix to save the day!
Netflix and Miramax have announced that Netflix has acquired the new Robert Rodriguez TV series “From Dusk Till Dawn” as a Netflix exclusive for its subscribers in Canada, Ireland, The Netherlands, Nordic European territories and the UK where it will air starting March 12, with Latin America beginning a week later on March 19.
Netflix will make subsequent episodes available internationally on a weekly basis. Now that's some good news for our readers outside of the States!
The ten-episode “From Dusk Till Dawn” skein, based on the Rodriguez cult classic, will premiere in the U.S. on March 11 on Rodriguez’s own El Rey Network, with the pilot set to premiere at the upcoming South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival in its new episodic section dedicated to smallscreen shows.
The series, which marks Rodriguez’s first foray into serialized drama, is set along the Mexico-US border where…
…bank robber Seth Gecko (D.J. Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard ‘Richie” Gecko (Zane Holtz) shoot their way south after a bank heist in Abilene, Texas.
The ten episodes take place over the course of one night, following the brothers as they try to evade a pair of Texas rangers, Earl McGraw (Don Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia). Along the way, Seth and Richie encounter former pastor, Jacob Fuller (Robert Patrick) and his family. The Geckos take them hostage and steal their RV to cross the border. Chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club populated by vampires. With the law, the undead and some of Mexico’s most hardened criminals on their trail, the group must fight until dawn to get out alive.
"From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series " stars D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Jesse Garcia, Eiza González, Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Don Johnson, Madison Davenport, Lane Garrison, Robert Patrick and Brandon Soo Hoo. The series was created and executive produced by network Founder and Chairman, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.
