Netflix snags Paradox, a fanciful musical & Daryl Hannah’s directorial debut

Ahead of its worldwide premiere at SXSW, Netflix has announced that they've snatched up the global rights to PARADOX, actress Daryl Hannah's feature directorial debut. Billed as a fanciful musical, the project will star the American rock band Neil Young + Promise of the Real. Willie Nelson, Corey McCormick, Anthony LoGerfo, Tato Melgar, Charris Ford and Dulcie Clarkson Ford will also star.

According to Deadline, who exclusively broke the news this afternoon, PARADOX is being hailed as a fantasy, a loud poem and a free-spirited tale of music and love. In waht we know so far, PARADOX follows a band of outlaws hiding high up in the Mountains. The “Man in the Black Hat” (Neil Young), the “Particle Kid” (Micah Nelson) and “Jail Time” (Lukas Nelson) pass the hours searching for treasure while they wait for the full moon to lend its magic, bring the music and make the spirits fly.

Featuring original music by Young + Promise of the Real, PARADOX will make its SXSW bow on March 15th, which will then be followed by a limited theatrical release and Netflix premiere on March 23rd. This will be Hannah's first time directing a feature-length film, after having helmed THE LAST SUPPER, a 1993 short that won her a Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival.

“Paradox sprung up spontaneously and unexpectedly, like a peculiar dandelion, popping up between the cracks in the pavement.  We were fortunate to find this brief window of opportunity to share the love for the natural world, each other and for the precious seeds of creativity and life. We are all thrilled the film will premiere at SXSW and that Netflix will be sharing it with the world,” remarked Hannah.

Will you be singing along to Daryl Hannah's PARADOX? Let us know in the comments section below. Oh, and while you're at it, tell us what some of your favorite musical films have been, throughout the years. If I had to peg one as my favorite, it would have to be Jim Sharman's THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
