Netflix releases chilling trailer for true-crime series The Innocent Man

We like to think that the truth will always come out, but our history has shown us that it's all too easy for the innocent to be punished for the crimes of the guilty. An upcoming true-crime series based upon John Grisham's "The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town" is slated to debut on Netflix next week, and a new trailer for the chilling series has been released. The six-part series focuses on two murders which shook the small town of Ada, Oklahoma, in the 1980s and explores the controversial chain of events which followed. Blending new footage with archival video and photos, The Innocent Man includes interviews with the victims’ friends and families, Ada residents, attorneys, journalists, and others involved in the cases. Looks like another compelling addition to Netflix's growing library of true-crime content.

A synopsis of "The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town" via Amazon:

In the town of Ada, Oklahoma, Ron Williamson was going to be the next Mickey Mantle. But on his way to the Big Leagues, Ron stumbled, his dreams broken by drinking, drugs, and women. Then, on a winter night in 1982, not far from Ron’s home, a young cocktail waitress named Debra Sue Carter was savagely murdered. The investigation led nowhere. Until, on the flimsiest evidence, it led to Ron Williamson. The washed-up small-town hero was charged, tried, and sentenced to death—in a trial littered with lying witnesses and tainted evidence that would shatter a man’s already broken life, and let a true killer go free.

The Innocent Man will debut on Netflix on December 14th.
