Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the supernatural drama Montauk, according to Deadline. The series comes from producer Shawn Levy (the NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM franchise) and young genre filmmakers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines); the latter duo will write and direct the entire first run of Montauk.
Described as a love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation, Montauk is set in…
1980 Long Island, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.
The eight hour-long episodes will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
The Duffers last directed HIDDEN, starring Alexander Skarsgard, although that film is still awaiting a release date (it was shot in 2012).
