Wise men say that only fools rush in, so what if you take a stealth approach? Just a few weeks after learning that Austin Butler (THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES, ARROW) will play Elvis Presley for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming biopic, Netflix has announced that a different kind of King is set to hit the animated stage.

Netflix has announced today that they've ordered the adult animated series AGENT KING from Priscilla Presley and John Eddie. The project hails from Authentic Brands Group, Sony Pictures Animation, and Sony Pictures Television, who're game to have Elvis trade his rhinestone-studded jumpsuits for outfits that will help make him one with the shadows.

In the forthcoming series, Elvis straps on a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King Of Rock And Roll,”

“From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world! Agent King lets him do just that,” said Priscilla Presley. “My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.” Variety exclusively broke the news about AGENT KING earlier today, on the 42nd anniversary of the King's death.

Presley and Eddie, who co-created the series will also executive produce. Meanwhile, Jerry Schilling will act as a consultant with ARCHER's Mike Arnold serving as showrunner, writer and co-executive producer. Fletcher Moules will be a supervising director on the series as well as a co-executive producer.

Another cool aspect of the AGENT KING project is that Elvis will sport new outfits for the series, which have all been custom designed by John Varvatos, who will also serve as a consulting producer.

Everyone knows that Elvis had a penchant for busting out kung fu moves while performing on stage. With AGENT KING, his character will finally be afforded the opportunity to lay those sweet moves on those looking to attack the United States of America. Here's hoping that the King still keeps some of the glitz, though. I'm thinking rhinestone landmines and glasses embedded with smart-tech for starters. Grab your peanut butter and banana sandwiches, my friends, because Elvis is about to go all James Bond on some very un-hep cats.
