Netflix orders a sixth and final season of Lucifer

The television series Lucifer, which was inspired by Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics, has now escaped death multiple times. The show used to be on Fox, but was cancelled after its third season despite the fact that it was one of the top 10 shows on the network. It was saved from oblivion by Netflix, but when the streaming service ordered a fifth season it was said that would be the end of the show.

But Netflix has changed their mind. After making sure that showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, as well as cast members Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Inbar Levi, and Graham McTavish, would stick with the show if it did indeed continue, the streamer has officially ordered a sixth season of Lucifer.

They're saying the sixth season will be the "FINAL final" one.

Season 5 was nearly finished filming when the pandemic lockdown hit. The first half of the season will be available to watch on Netflix as of August 21st, and hopefully it won't be long before the second half can be completed.

On Lucifer, Ellis plays

the devil, who grows bored with reigning over hell and abandons his post for Los Angeles, where he runs a nightclub and becomes a consultant to the LAPD.

The season 6 announcement was made on Twitter and can be seen right here:
