Put up your dukes, watch your manners, and prepare for some BFF drama, because Netflix has teased the release date for the final season of Marvel's JESSICA JONES.
News of the third chapter's debut comes via Netflix's NXOnNetflix Twitter account, which in a recent post revealed a number of titles coming to the subscription-based streamer this June. As you can see from the list posted below, there are several films coming to the service that have Christian Bale standing front and center, thanks to offerings like BATMAN BEGINS, THE DARK NIGHT, and EQUILIBRIUM. Joining the Bale-centric cinematic gems are titles like Netflix's I AM MOTHER, the Arabic-language coming-of-age series JINN, and Joe Dante's action-figure comedy, SMALL SOLDIERS. Of course, Marvel's JESSICA JONES is also in the mix, though the final season of the Krysten Ritter-led series is merely listed under the term "Coming Soon." While it's a shame that we don't have a confirmed date just yet, it sure feels good to know that the release window is now open, allowing some much-needed fresh air into the Marvel/Netflix swan song.
After DAREDEVIL, LUKE CAGE and IRON FIST were cancelled by Netflix, it wasn't long before THE PUNISHER and JESSICA JONES were abandoned as well. Thankfully, seasons for THE PUNISHER and JESSICA JONES had already been well into production when the ax fell, affording them one last hoorah before walking off into a dark alleyway. While little is known about the third season of JESSICA JONES, I've no doubt that the upcoming episodes will address the divide torn between Jessica and her best friend, Trish "Patsy" Walker (Rachel Taylor). Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. The second season of JESSICA JONES found the alcoholic P.I. reconnecting with her long lost mother, so perhaps Season 3 will focus on Jessica pulling her chosen family, Trish, back from the brink of self-destruction? We'll have to wait until June to find out, but hey, that's less than a month away. Here's hoping that Netflix's Marvel run ends with a bang rather than a whimper.
