Netflix grants Jason Bateman’s Ozark series a second season

Not long after its July 21st debut, Netflix has granted Jason Bateman's intense crime drama TV series, OZARK, a second season.

Created by Bill Dubuque (THE ACCOUNTANT), this drama series stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. With wife Wendy and their two kids in tow, Marty is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe. While the Byrde's fate hangs in the balance, the dire circumstances force the fractured family to reconnect.

The series, which is directed and executively produced by Bateman, will now prep for an additional 10 episodes that will follow the events of the show's premiere season.

So far, I've only had the time to check out the first episode of OZARK. While I admit that I felt the episode was slow to start, I'd felt myself warming to the Byrde family and definitely pulled into the intrigue of their situation by the time the closing credits began to roll. I'll have to keep watching to know for certain where my excitement level for this news stands, though for now, I like what I've seen and wish the program well in its sophmore season.

Jason Bateman's OZARK is available to stream on Netflix right now.
