Netflix Gaming division launches globally on mobile with Stranger Things titles

Before you ask, no, you haven’t somehow wandered into the Upside Down. Netflix has finally pushed the button on a global release for its Netflix Gaming division. Per the launch, Netflix has released its first round of mobile games to all subscribers worldwide on Android. According to Mike Verdu, Netflix’s vice president of Game Development, the slate includes two Stranger Things titles – Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3: The Game. Both games were only available in Poland up until today, but now all fans can get in on the action.

Both Stranger Things titles aren’t the only games hitting the Netflix Gaming division. Subscribers can also play Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Teeter Up (Frosty Pop). All you have to do to gain access to the Netflix Gaming division is log into your Netflix account via your Android device and look for the dedicated row where the games reside. Each game is pre-programmed to use your preferred language. You’ll need an adult Netflix profile to gain access to the games, so be sure to log out of your kid’s account if you have multiple profiles.

“Whether you’re craving a casual game you can start from scratch or an immersive experience that lets you dig deeper into your favorite stories, we want to begin to build a library of games that offers something for everyone,” Verdu said when announcing the games online. “We’re in the early days of creating a great gaming experience, and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us.”

The Netflix Gaming division is the streamer’s latest attempt at expanding its global empire. With subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now offering gamers a wide array of titles to choose from at a competitive price, Netflix has a lot of work to do if they wish to become known as a worthwhile gaming platform. After all, there’s a lot of competition out there, and unless you’ve got a Fortnite or Minecraft-level banger in development, it’s going to be a challenge to hang with the big dogs. That said, all you need is one mega-hit to set your service apart from all the others, and Netflix is filled with talented individuals who are more than capable of changing the game.
