Nestle’s Hocus Pocus oatmeal peanut butter cookie dough now in stores

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Director Kenny Ortega's HOCUS POCUS (BUY IT HERE) was not a financial success when it was released in 1993, in fact Disney lost over $16 million putting that film out in theatres. A loss they kind of deserved, since they released the Halloween-themed movie in the middle of July. HOCUS POCUS eventually found its audience, and by now it has become one of the most popular movies to watch during the Halloween season. It's so popular that a sequel is now in the works at Disney+.

And so popular that there are now bags of cookie dough on store shelves with the film's title and characters on the packaging.

Nestle Toll House has released an official HOCUS POCUS cookie dough that fans can use to make oatmeal peanut butter cookies with chocolate morsels and candy-coated "gems". These gems, colored orange, purple, and yellow, are apparently supposed to represent the three witches from the movie, the Sanderson sisters.

Directed by Ortega from a screenplay credited to Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert (and based on story Garris crafted with David Kirschner), HOCUS POCUS stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, Winifred, Sarah, and Mary. The synopsis:

After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.

Each package of the HOCUS POCUS cookie dough is supposed to make 20 cookies, with each cookie having 90 calories. If you love the movie and oatmeal peanut butter treats, be on the lookout for the cookie dough.
