After a successful run at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, Neon has announced that they're picking up the rights to the drama LITTLE WOODS for a North American release. Directed and written by Nia DaCosta (ODESSA), the film is a modern Western that tells the story of two sisters, Ollie (Tessa Thompson) and Deb (Lily James), who are driven to work outside the law to better their lives. For years, Ollie has illicitly helped the struggling residents of her North Dakota oil boomtown access Canadian health care and medication. When the authorities catch on, she plans to abandon her crusade, only to be dragged in even deeper after a desperate plea for help from her sister.
In addition to starring Tessa Thompson (THOR: RAGNAROK, ANNIHILATION) and Lily James (CINDERELLA, BABY DRIVER), the film also features Luke Kirby (HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION), James Badge Dale (THE DEPARTED, WORLD WAR Z) and Lance Reddick (JOHN WICK, WHITE HOUSE DOWN).
If you're a fan of Thompson's, be sure to check her out in the newest season of HBO's WESTWORLD as the character Charlotte Hale. The Marvel alum will also star as Bianca in director Steven Caple Jr.'s CREED II and opposite Chris Hemsworth in the UNTITLED MEN IN BLACK spinoff.
Be sure to keep an eye out for when Neon gives LITTLE WOODS an official North American release date.
