Neill Blomkamp’s Alien sequel delayed indefinitely

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I saw this coming; I think we all probably did. While we all want as much ALIEN action as possible (at least, I think that’s what we want?), there isn’t room in 20th Century Fox’s universe for two concurrent films dealing with the dastardly xenomorphs. So it goes, then, that Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS sequel – ALIEN: PARADISE LOST – has taken precedence over Neill Blomkamp’s untitled ALIEN sequel, which has been postponed.

The news comes via Neill himself; the DISTRICT 9 director gave the world the update via Twitter not long ago:

Remains to be seen how long this holding pattern lasts. It’s possible the success of ALIEN: PARADISE LOST will determine what happens to Blomkamp’s ALIEN film; it’s also possible this is the beginning of the end for the project. All we can do is wait and see.
