Things are moving forward quickly for the Constantine television series. NBC officially ordered a pilot a couple of weeks ago, and now we know who will be directing: Deadline has learned Neil Marshall will be behind the camera for the Constantine pilot. Besides directing films such as DOG SOLDIERS, THE DESCENT, and CENTURION, Marshall has also done some work in television, directing the first and third episodes of Starz's Black Sails, and an upcoming episode of HBO's Game of Thrones.
The Constantine series will be from a story by David S. Goyer and written by Daniel Cerone (Dexter, The Mentalist). No cast has been announced yet, but it sounds like NBC really wants to get this sucker made, so we could be hearing news on who will star in the near future.
Neil Marshall is a solid choice to direct the Constantine pilot. NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt recently called the script for the pilot "dark, witty, and scary," and I think Marshall could do great things with Constantine.
