2011 saw the release of THE INTOUCHABLES, a French film that followed an aristocrat who hires a young man from the projects to be his caregiver after he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident. Raw deal! However, the film itself turned out to be quite the emotional tale and made enough waves that Hollywood deemed it necessary for an American remake. We haven’t heard too much about that . . . until now.
As Deadline reports, Neil Burger (DIVERGENT, LIMITLESS) has been tapped to direct the remake with Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart in tow. At this rate, there’s only a handful of actors that Kevin Hart HASN’T been paired up with. Still, this pairing may prove fruitful given the source material. Something tells me The Weinstein Company will probably not name this flick THE UNTOUCHABLES, so I’m curious with what name they will go with. PARAGLIDING BROMANCE? That’s a free one, Weinstein Company. You’re welcome.
THE INTOUCHABLES remake will go into production early next year.
