Nefarious: Sean Patrick Flanery stars in supernatural thriller from God’s Not Dead writers

Last month, it was announced that Sean Patrick Flanery will be reuniting with Troy Duffy and Norman Reedus for The Boondock Saints 3, which Duffy will be directing from a screenplay he and Flanery wrote together (with Reedus providing input as well). But that long-awaited sequel isn’t expected to start rolling until May of next year, so Flanery has time to work on some other projects in the meantime, like the Amazon series The Boys and the supernatural thriller Nefarious, which is currently filming in Oklahoma.

Nefarious is written and directed by both Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, who may be best known for writing the film Do You Believe? and co-writing God’s Not Dead. It should be noted, however, that this is not the first time Solomon and Konzelman have worked with Flanery on a genre film. In 2006, they made a vampire movie called The Insatiable together (and you can pick up a copy on Amazon). Solomon and Konzelman also co-wrote the 2001 version of Earth vs. the Spider.

Nefarious has the following synopsis:

On the day he’s slated for execution, a convicted serial killer (Flanery) claiming to be a demon, undergoes a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he’s mentally fit to receive his sentence…

Flanery is joined in the cast by Jordan Belfi (Entourage), Stelio Savante (Running for Grace) , Tom Ohmer (NCIS: Los Angeles) and Cameron Arnett (Star Trek: The Next Generation).

Solomon and Konzelman are producing Nefarious with Chris Jones and Sheila Hart.

Flanery has over 100 acting credits to his name, including Suicide Kings, Eye See You, Masters of Horror: The Damned Thing, the TV series The Dead Zone, Dexter, Saw: The Final Chapter, High Moon, and Assault on VA-33. Beyond The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, he’s probably best known for playing young Indiana Jones in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
