NBC’s Dracula series casts its Van Helsing

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

According to THR, the upcoming DRACULA series from NBC has officially found its Abraham Van Helsing in Thomas Kretschmann. That’s right, the same Thomas Kretschmann who played Dracula in Dario Argento’s ridiculous looking DRACULA 3D. The show will take place in the late-1800’s and as THR put it, Van Helsing is…

Not the classic hero featured in so many retellings. Here, he’s a brilliant professor with a cool exterior who is obsessed with revenge and makes him more of a threat to the public than to Dracula.

Kretschmann will be joining Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jessica DeGouw, Katie McGrath and Nonso Anozie. Meyers will play Dracula who arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who says he’s interested in bringing modern science to the Victorian society. However — as with most vampires — he has an evil plan to wreak revenge on the very people who ruined his life centuries ago but falls in love with Mina (Jessica DeGouw) who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

Currently NBC plans to air DRACULA in the fall of 2013.
