Over 18 million people watched NBC's The Sound of Music Live! and their upcoming Peter Pan Live! starring Christopher Walken and Allison Williams will probably be just as big. But it's looking like the network's next live television event won't be a musical.
Variety has learned NBC wants to do a live version of the Aaron Sorkin Broadway play A FEW GOOD MEN. Besides writing the play, Sorkin also wrote the script for the 1992 Rob Reiner film adaptation, and he might rework his play for the live special as well. Although NBC and Aaron Sorkin have been in talks since this summer about possibly doing a A FEW GOOD MEN live telecast, they are still working on the details, so it might be a bit before we learn more (casting, director, when it'll air) about the special.
I'm sure most of you know this, but Aaron Sorkin's play (and Reiner's movie version starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore) is about the court-martial of two U.S. Marines who are accused of murdering another Marine. I'm definitely more interested in checking this out than Peter Pan Live! especially if Sorkin does end up being involved with the project. Who would you like to see star in NBC's live broadcast of A FEW GOOD MEN?
