As my knowledge of the PUPPET MASTER franchise is somewhat limited, I'll admit to being shocked that PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH is the thirteenth installment of the series. That's…impressive, I think. The upcoming film serves as a reboot of the franchise and stars Thomas Lennon (Reno 911) as Edgar, a recently divorced man who returns to his childhood home where he finds a nefarious looking puppet in his deceased brother's room. Deciding to sell the doll for some quick cash at a small-town convention which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders, all hell inevitably breaks loose when a strange force animates the puppets and sets them on a bloody killing spree which is motivated by an evil as old as time.
The NSFW trailer for PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH begins with a warning that this is one of the most violent films of all time and may be unsettling for those of a delicate nature. A bold claim perhaps, but one followed up upon by plenty of Nazi puppets and copious amounts of gore. In addition to Thomas Lennon, PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH also stars Udo Kier, Barbara Crampton, Charlyne Yi, Michael Pare, Jenny Pellicer, and Nelson Franklin. In case you need another reason to check out this potential little gem, it was also scripted by S. Craig Zahler, the writer and director behind BONE TOMAHAWK and BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99.
PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH will hit limit-threaters, VOD, and Digital HD on August 17th.
