It feels like far too long since we’ve seen Natalie Portman. In fact, it’s been two years since THOR: THE DARK WORLD, her last major release, which, in Hollywood time, might as well be forever. I must say that I’ve missed her quite a bit, and I’ve glad she’ll be rejoining our movie civilization at the beginning of 2016 with JANE GOT A GUN.
For a script that once appeared on the Black List (in 2011), the project certainly had a rocky road to overcome in getting made, suffering through one cast/crew departure after another until it finally settled down. And now we’ve been getting peeks here and there at Gavin O’Connor‘s film set for a January release via The Weinstein Company.
This latest trailer is a bit on the strange side, as it has that feel of something you’d skip through on a Blu-ray on your path to watching the movie you really want to see on the disc. That doesn’t mean there isn’t an entertaining film here, but the way it’s being sold certainly isn’t doing it any favors for finding an audience.
JANE GOT A GUN takes aim at the box office on January 29, 2016.
