There seems to be a lot of rule-breaking in horror movies these days. A character is presented with a set of rules to follow – how to do something, how to take care of something, what not to do, whatever. They say “Screw it.” And then the shit hits the fan due to their own stupidity. It becomes a bit hard to empathize with someone who can’t do with they’re told and, as a result, brings upon all kinds of evil with their behavior.
That’s the basis for THE FOREST though, which takes GAME OF THRONES’ Natalie Dormer into a forest where people go to commit suicide and then sets her up to operate against the wise advice of others who know a bit more about the things she’s dealing with.
I get the feeling this isn’t going to turn out well for her at all.
THE FOREST opens in theaters on January 8, 2016.
