My Bloody Valentine 2: The Return of the Miner – WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie

It’s Valentine’s Day, and that means a whole lot of horror fans are going to be watching both the 1981 classic My Bloody Valentine (watch it HERE) and its 2009 remake My Bloody Valentine 3D (watch that one HERE)… and mourning the fact that neither of those excellent slasher movies ever got a sequel. That’s why the new episode of our video series WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie (formerly known as The Horror Movie That Almost Was) is dedicated to a sequel that should have happened but didn’t, a follow-up to the original My Bloody Valentine that might have been called My Bloody Valentine 2: The Return of the Miner. Find out what we know about it by checking out the video embedded above.

Directed by George Mihalka from a screenplay by John Beaird (and a story by Stephen Miller), the original My Bloody Valentine has the following synopsis:

Twenty years ago, a tragic accident in a mine on St. Valentine’s Day took the lives of five miners. The disaster occurred while supervisors left their posts to attend the town’s annual Valentine’s Day dance. The only survivor, Harry Warden, was confined to a mental institution after the ordeal. On the disaster’s first anniversary, he returned to the town for bloody revenge. That was nineteen years ago, and memories have dimmed. Young lovers T.J. (Paul Kelman) and Sarah (Lori Hallier) and friend Axel (Neil Affleck) are among the townspeople attending another Valentine’s party. Then, a box of Valentine candy arrives, containing an ominous message and a blood-soaked heart. Before the night is over, terror will strike again and again and again…

The films stars Paul Kelman, Lori Hallier, Neil Affleck, Don Francks, Cynthia Dale, Alf Humphreys, Keith Knight, Terry Waterland, Thomas Kovacs, Helene Udy, Rob Stein, Patricia Hamilton, Gina Dick, Larry Reynolds, Jim Murchison, Carl Marotte, Jack Van Evera, and Peter Cowper.

The WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie series focuses on

the various horror projects that could never seem to get things off the ground, be it for budgetary concerns, creative differences, or just an ever evolving Hollywood landscape. We dive into every aspect and see just how close these films had come to cameras rolling.

This episode was Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
