A couple weeks ago, we shared the first image from the horror film My Best Friend’s Exorcism, an adaptation of a novel by Grady Hendrix (buy it HERE), which will be released through Amazon Prime on September 30th. Now we have something even better than an image (though we do have a couple more of those at the bottom of this article): the trailer for the movie! You can check it out in the embed above.
Directed by Damon Thomas (Penny Dreadful) from a screenplay by Jenna Lamia (Good Girls), My Best Friend’s Exorcism has the following synopsis:
Surviving the teenage years isn’t easy, especially when you’re possessed by a demon. It’s 1988, and best friends Abby and Gretchen are navigating boys, pop culture, and a paranormal force clinging to Gretchen like a pair of neon legwarmers. With assistance from overly confident mall exorcist Christian Lemon, Abby is determined to compel the demon back to the pits of hell—if it doesn’t kill Gretchen first. At turns horrifying and hilarious, My Best Friend’s Exorcism pays homage to 1980s pop culture with a totally timeless tale of terror and true friendship.
The film stars Elsie Fisher (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes), Cathy Ang (And Just Like That…), Rachel Ogechi Kanu (Cheer for Your Life), and Christopher Lowell (Promising Young Woman). We know that Lowell’s character Christian Lemon is described as a “muscly meathead”, “who along with his brother performs a ‘Faith and Fitness’ at the teens’ parochial school. He sees that Gretchen is possessed and in need of an exorcism.”
Coming to us from Endeavor Content and Amazon Studios, My Best Friend’s Exorcism is being produced by The Gotham Group, Quirk Productions, and Freaky / Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon.
