My Best Friend Is a Vampire gets a Blu-ray release from Vestron Video

Seven years ago, Lionsgate Home Entertainment revived the defunct Vestron Video label for the Vestron Video Collector’s Series of Blu-ray releases, and over the years that series has turned out to be pretty impressive. The list of Vestron Blu-rays includes Chopping Mall, Blood Diner, the Waxwork movies, Return of the Living Dead ///, The Gate, the Wishmaster films, the Warlock films, Slaughter High, Class of 1999, Beyond Re-Animator, Dagon, Maximum Overdrive, Shivers, Little Monsters, The Wraith, Dementia 13, Steel Dawn, Candyman: Day of the Dead, Dream a Little Dream, Extreme Prejudice, Earth Girls Are Easy, the Dentist movies, the Silent Night, Deadly Night sequels, and more. The thirtieth release from the revived Vestron is a Blu-ray of the 1987 horror comedy My Best Friend Is a Vampire – and the street date is next Tuesday, July 25th! Copies can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK.

Directed by Jimmy Huston from a screenplay written by Tab Murphy, My Best Friend Is a Vampire has the following synopsis: Vampirism isn’t all the horror it’s made out to be, it’s just an alternative lifestyle! You drink a bit of and get to live ten times longer than anyone else. Nothing to it. At least that’s what Jeremy Capello thinks when he gets a deep love-bite from a hot date. Before he knows it, his reflection in the bathroom mirror has vanished, he can’t stand the smell of garlic and he’s developed an overwhelming passion for raw steak! Things don’t seem to bad until the arrival of maniac vampire hunter Professor McCarthy. He’s “staking out” Jeremy, and the future doesn’t look so bright. Anything can happen, and it does, in this hilarious comedy that gives a whole new meaning to the word “nightlife.”

The film stars Robert Sean Leonard, Cheryl Pollak, René Auberjonois, Evan Mirand, Fannie Flagg, Paul Willson, Cecilia Peck, and David Warner.

The Vestron Video Collector’s Series release of My Best Friend Is a Vampire will include the following bonus features: – Audio Commentary with Director Jimmy Huston and Film Historian Nathaniel Thompson – A Most Alternative Lifestyle: A Conversation with Writer & Associate Producer Tab Murphy and Production Executive Ken Aguado – Gabbing with Grimsdyke: An Interview with Actor Paul Willson – Theatrical Trailer – Teaser Trailer – Still Gallery – Optional English, English SDH, and Spanish subtitles for the main feature
