Writer/director Buddy Cooper has announced that he’s finally making a sequel to his 1984 slasher The Mutilator (you can watch it HERE), and the folks at Mad Monster are reporting that Mutilator 2 is going to star a pair of genre veterans: Terry Kiser (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood) and Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night)!
Outside of his role as the villainous Dr. Crews in The New Blood, Kiser is best known for playing Bernie in the comedy Weekend at Bernie’s and its sequel.
The original The Mutilator (a.k.a. Fall Break) had the following synopsis:
Years after the accidental death of his wife, a deranged man starts to slice and dice his son’s friends at a beachfront condominium.
The film starred Jack Chatham, Matt Mitler, Ruth Martinez, and Bill Hitchcock… and Mad Monster was also able to confirm that Martinez and Hitchcock will be returning to play roles in Mutilator 2. This despite the fact that Hitchcock’s character was killed the first time around!
Maffei had this to say about being cast in the sequel:
I had 4 copies of The Mutilator (including a heavily edited family friendly version!) and a promotional standee as a kid, so to be joining this sequel, working with Bud Cooper, some of the original returning cast, and jumping back in to raise some hell with Terry… it’s surreal. I am beyond excited.”
Promising to “bring together modern horror and a taste of the ’80s fun that fans loved from the original”, Mutilator 2 will begin filming in 2022.
Buddy Cooper and Damian Maffei will be attending the Mad Monster Party Carolina convention from February 18th through the 20th, and during that time Mad Monster will be hosting a Mutilator 2 panel where fans will be able to learn more information about the follow-up. Tickets to the convention can be purchased at THIS LINK.
