MTV and Jason Blum team up for R.L. Stine’s Eye Candy

A lot of horror fans may have grew up reading the works of R.L. Stine, the author who has been called 'the Stephen King of children's literature' and has written hundreds of horror fiction novels which have sold over 400 million copies worldwide. While he may be best known for his "Goosebumps" series of books (which in turn became a popular television show), Stine has also written with a more mature audience in mind from time to time, and now Deadline is reporting that MTV and super producer Jason Blum (INSIDIOUS) are teaming up to bring one of Stine's books to the small screen.

"Eye Candy", based on R.L. Stine’s novel, has been heating up at MTV for some time. The high-profile package lists Blum as an executive producer through his Blumhouse Productions and TWILIGHT helmer Catherine Hardwicke as exec producer and director. Ok, I can see it working. Besides, MTV has actually done quite alright with horror in the past with the decent offerings MY SUPER PSYCHO SWEET 16 and it's superior sequel. Maybe "Eye Candy" will be worthwhile viewing. We'll see.
