Disney+’s Ms. Marvel is getting embiggened for the big screen with a theatrical release in Pakistan to celebrate the debut of Marvel’s first Pakistani superhero! This glorious news arrives courtesy of Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who detailed Kamala Khan‘s theatrical debut on social media. Disney has agreed to screen the entire series on the silver screen in Pakistan because Disney+ is not available in that territory. It’s also a great way to celebrate Eid, which marks the end of Ramadan.
You can check out Obaid-Chinoy’s personal Instagram post announcing the show’s theatrical debut below:
Disney and Marvel will be creating a cinema format version of the six-episode series for Pakistan, split into three parts as follows:
Episodes 1 and 2 will debut on 16th June
Episodes 3 and 4 will debut on 30th June
Episodes 5 and 6 will debut on the 14th of July
This decision was made to celebrate the introduction of the first Pakistani Marvel superhero, Kamala Khan (played by Iman Vellani), into the MCU. The series also features a diverse cast both in front of and behind the camera. Disney and Marvel did not want Pakistani audiences to miss out on seeing Ms. Marvel and her story, as Disney+ has not yet launched in their country.
Starring alongside Iman Vellani for the new series is Aramis Knight, the vigilante known as Red Dagger, Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s older brother Amir Khan, and Matt Lintz as Kamala’s best friend, Bruno Carrelli. Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur star as Kamala’s parents, with Rish Shah, Laurel Marsden, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Alysia Reiner, Fawad Khan, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, Alyy Khan, and Anjali Bhimani.
Here’s the official synopsis for Ms. Marvel:
Marvel Studios‘ ‘Ms. Marvel’ is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination — particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers.
Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8, 2022, and will begin its theatrical release in Pakistan in June.
