Betty Gilpin starred in the thriller The Hunt, which was co-written by Damon Lindelof, and now she and Lindelof have teamed up again for the Peacock streaming service series Mrs. Davis, which is set to make its premiere on April 20th. With that premiere date drawing near, a teaser trailer for Mrs. Davis has arrived online – but don’t expect to learn much about the show from this teaser trailer. A lot about the series is still being kept under wraps. But if you’re interested in being teased, the trailer can be seen in the embed above.
According to Deadline, “the teaser is described as a high concept featurette that introduces Mrs. Davis to viewers and invites them to join her quest. The 30-second clip appears to show people from across the globe being handed an earpiece as someone tells them ‘she wants to talk to you.’“
We have heard that Mrs. Davis is an exploration of faith vs. technology, an epic battle of biblical and binary proportions. Gilpin plays Simone, a nun who goes to battle against an all-powerful Artificial Intelligence known as Mrs. Davis.
Lindelof is writing and executive producing Mrs. Davis with Tara Hernandez, who serves as showrunner. Also executive producing the show are Eugene Kelly and Owen Harris, who directed multiple episodes of the series, including the first episode. Alethea Jones also directed multiple episodes. In addition to co-writing The Hunt, Lindelof previously created or co-created Lost, The Leftovers, and Watchmen. He worked on the screenplays for the films Cowboys & Aliens, Prometheus, Star Trek Into Darkness, World War Z, and Tomorrowland. Hernandez previously worked on The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Harris’s directing credits include episodes of The Twilight Zone, Brave New World, and Black Mirror. Among his contributions to Black Mirror was the incredibly popular episode San Junipero.
Gilpin had roles on Nurse Jackie and Masters of Sex, and she earned three consecutive Emmy nominations for her role on the Netflix series GLOW. She was also in The Tomorrow War. She is joined in the Mrs. Davis cast by Jake McDorman, who plays Simone’s rebellious ex, who also has a personal vendetta against the Algorithm. Also in the cast are David Arquette, Elizabeth Marvel, Andy McQueen, Ben Chaplin, Margo Martindale, Katja Herbers, Chris Diamantopoulo, Ashley Romans, Tom Wlaschiha, and Mathilde Ollivier.
The set-up of a nun battling all-powerful artificial intelligence sounds interesting to me, so I’m looking forward to Mrs. Davis. Are you interested in this show, and what did you think of the teaser trailer? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
Peacock will be releasing the first four episodes of Mrs. Davis on April 20th. The remaining four episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays.
