Picking up right where the first film left off, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins with the Victory tour of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) who have seemingly inspired rebellion amongst the people of Panem, which sets off a series of events that will eventually put them, along with new “gamers,” back into the arena. The new teaser trailer gives a nice set up of how they get to that point, but doesn’t reveal anything of the actual games themselves. For once, a teaser trailer does just that: tease.
Get in on the revolution:
Looks pretty good overall. The cold gray style seems to have survived the directing chair shift from Gary Ross to Francis Lawrence, keeping things consistent, if anything. Personally, I’m not chomping at the bit, but that doesn’t mean much as I’m hardly the demographic. This is absolutely primed to make a slaying at the box office this year, regardless.
Here’s the official synopsis:
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Sam Clafin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Amanda Plummer, Jeffrey Wright, and Alan Ritchson, continues the love triangle of death marathon on November 22, 2013.
