Matt Reeves continues to put together his cast for THE BATMAN, and it's been reported that Zoe Kravitz (FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD) has been tapped to play Catwoman.

This actually wouldn't be Zoe Kravitz's first time playing Catwoman, as she also lent her voice to the character in THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE. Catwoman, the Gotham City burglar who serves as both adversary and ally to the Dark Knight, has been portrayed by quite a few talented actresses over the decades, including Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway, Camren Bicondova, and Lili Simmons. Kravitz will join Robert Pattinson (THE LIGHTHOUSE), who is set to play Batman, in the film. Jeffrey Wright (NO TIME TO DIE) has been in talks to play Commissioner Gordon with Jonah Hill (MID90S) said to be up for the role of either Penguin or The Riddler. There's no official start date just yet, but production on THE BATMAN could begin either later this year or early 2020. THE BATMAN is slated for a June 25, 2021 release. We still don't know all that much about THE BATMAN at this stage, but Matt Reeves has teased that it will finally do justice to Batman's reputation of the World's Greatest Detective.

It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.

Zoe Kravitz was recently seen in the star-studded second season of HBO's Big Little Lies opposite Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Reese Witherspoon, and Meryl Streep.
