Zack Snyder to shoot new footage for his director’s cut of Justice League

It was announced earlier this year that Zack Snyder would be bringing his original vision for JUSTICE LEAGUE to life in the form of a four-part mini-series for HBO Max. The news was enthusiastically received by fans who had been campaigning for a Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE since the film was released, but beyond the possibility of several actors returning to record additional dialogue, it was thought that there would be no reshoots for the extended cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE, but it would seem that something has changed.

According to THR, Zack Snyder will be shooting new scenes for the project in October that will include the return of Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Additionally, the shoot is also expected to include Ray Fisher as Cyborg, which is noteworthy due to the actor's ongoing battle with Warner Bros. regarding his allegations on the behavior of Joss Whedon, Geoff Johns, and Jon Berg during the original reshoots. These new reshoots for the Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE are expected to be "a week- or so- long."

I can't imagine that it would be easy to transform what was once designed to be a film into a four-hour mini-series, but the added breathing room must have left Zack Snyder realizing that he had a few gaps to fill. It's admirable that Warner Bros. is actually letting Snyder shoot more footage for the film, especially considering how much money they've already poured into it, but I suppose it's best to do it right rather than cut any corners at this point. The Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE will debut on HBO Max in 2021.
