Will Smith to reunite with David Ayer in the Max Landis penned Bright

We haven't yet witnessed David Ayer and Will Smith's first collaboration with SUICIDE SQUAD, but the pair seem keen on keeping that relationship going. Deadline reports that Smith and Ayer are part of a new action spec package which is currently making the rounds by the name of BRIGHT.

Originating from a script by Max Landis (CHRONICLE), the film will be a cop thriller with fantastical elements which Variety says will be similar to Ayer's END OF WATCH, only it will be set in a world in which Orcs and fairies live among the human race. The Wrap reports that one of the protagonists will come in the form of an Orc cop. Interesting. BRIGHT doesn't have a home currently as bidding on the project is just warming up, but at the moment the package has David Ayer set to direct with Will Smith and Joel Edgerton attached to star in the film.

A synopsis for SUICIDE SQUAD:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

SUICIDE SQUAD is set for a August 5, 2016 release.
