Rumor: Will Safe House’s Daniel Espinosa be the one to direct the Assassin’s Creed movie?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Michael Fassbender was definitely a good score for the ASSASSIN’S CREED movie, but what about a director?

According to Twitchfilm.com, Fox wants SAFE HOUSE’S Daniel Espinosa as helmer on the video game adaptation. Those who haven’t checked out Espinosa’s EASY CASH will get their first real look at the director’s work with the ROBOCOP remake.

The story centers on “a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.” The game first debuted in 2007 and is still going strong.

Back in October, Fassbender confessed why he was drawn to the project:

I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting—the idea of reliving memories.

”Video game player.” Sounds like something your grandparents would say. ”Where do you get those internet CDs?” I’m cracking up over here. I amuse myself, folks.

So what do you think about Espinosa taking on the game series adaptation?
