SPOILER WARNING! DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS if you haven't seen the movie yet. If you have and want to discuss some of the details of the film, that's fine, but BE RESPECTFUL about it. If you're going to just post the spoiler itself with no commentary then you're trolling and we will ban your IP and e-mail address and perform voodoo magic on your soul.
STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI made a mountain of money, as expected, but it also ended up being a very divisive film among fans, which led many to grow sour on the franchise on the whole, which has thus far made good on the promise of a new Star Wars film every year. And now we're getting a new one within six months of the last, which is certainly a first for the franchise, with SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. Essentially an origin story of Han Solo, the rebellious smuggling pilot originally played by Harrison Ford, the film steps back into a familiar era, but with new characters and situations we've yet to see on the big screen. Rounding out the cast for SOLO is Alden Ehrenreich as the titular character, Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra, Woody Harrelson as Beckett, Thandie Newton as Val, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos, Jon Favreau as Rio Durant and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Originally directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller before they were fired from the film, the reshot version is directed by film veteran Ron Howard.
While the reviews for SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY have been good, they're not exactly Earth-shattering good. If anything, most reviews have pegged it as being a fun, serviceable ride (albeit one that no one seemed to ask for), which isn't exactly glowing praise for a Star Wars film, but not a death sentence either. Our own Chris Bumbray gave the film a 7/10 in his review, saying, "…this is a proficient, well-made film with some moments of genuine inspiration, even if it likely won’t set the world on fire."

And with that, now it's your turn! We want to hear what YOU thought of the film! Naturally, we'd prefer you to comment only if you've seen the film as that's the point here, but do what feels good. Just don't get mad if you get trounced for trolling or posting blatant spoilers in headlines. Healthy debate, genuine thoughts, and respectful interactions is all we ask. So, is this a nostalgic trip back to the old Star Wars you love or just an unnecessary spinoff that no one cares about?
