In this new series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love ’em or hate ’em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it’s always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time out we take a look at the 1994 Academy Awards, which featured Steven Spielberg‘s SCHINDLER’S LIST starring Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, James Ivory‘s THE REMAINS OF THE DAY starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, Jim Sheridan‘s IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER starring Daniel Day Lewis, and finally Jane Campion‘s THE PIANO starring Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel.
