True Blood’s Stephen Moyer to headline Fox & Marvel’s X-Men pilot

Stephen Moyer X-Men

Marvel and Twentieth Century Fox have been working to develop a X-Men TV series for some time, and although we still don't have an official title, the cast of the series is beginning to come together. Centered around two ordinary parents who discover that their children possess mutant abilities, the series will see the family forced to go on the run from a hostile government as they join up with an underground network of mutants in order to survive.

Stephen Moyer, who played Bill Compton on all seven season's of HBO's True Blood, has joined the cast in what will be a leading role. Moyer will play the father, Reed, who is an "ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA's office with his responsibilities to his family." Moyer joins the already cast Blair Redford (Switched at Birth), who will play Sam, the strong-willed Native American leader of the mutant underground network, and Jamie Chung (Gotham), who is set to play Blink, an unstable mutant with the power of teleportation. Burn Notice's Matt Nix has scripted the pilot, which X-MEN: APOCALYPSE director Bryan Singer will helm. As I'm really only familiar with Stephen Moyer's work on True Blood, I'd be curious to check him out in a series where he isn't uttering "Sookeh" every other sentence.

How are you folks feeling about this upcoming X-Men series so far?

The most recent X-Men related series, Legion, has certainly been blowing expectations out of the water. Make sure to keep checking out our own Steve Seigh's weekly reviews!
