The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan set to appear in Batman v Superman

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

One of the biggest superhero films of the year opens in just slightly more than two months, but that doesn't mean that announcements about the ever expanding cast of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE have dried up. Entertainment Weekly has heard that Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead) has joined the film in a small but important role.

The first step of Bruce Wayne's transformation into Batman occurred very early in his life when he witnessed the brutal murder of his parents. With BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE looking to give us yet another rendition of that particular sequence, we obviously need some faces for Mr. and Mrs. Wayne. Entertainment Weekly says that Lauren Cohan will be appearing in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE as Martha Wayne alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who we already knew would be playing Thomas Wayne. So get ready to see Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's faces pressed up against the ground as a young Bruce Wayne sobs to the heavens. Again.

We're not sure how big of a factor the deaths of Bruce Wayne's (Ben Affleck) parents will have on the film, but Affleck's Batman has definitely had more time to become embittered and cynical than any live-action version we've seen thus far; in fact, Ben Affleck previously said that his version of Bruce Wayne is "on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it." While it's a shame that her role is so small, I'll take whatever Lauren Cohan I can get.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hits theaters on March 25, 2016, but The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 14, 2016.
