The Phoenix has arrived in the new trailer for Dark Phoenix

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It's been five months since the first trailer for DARK PHOENIX was unleashed, but we've finally got our next glimpse at what could very well be the final X-MEN film of the Fox-era; not counting THE NEW MUTANTS, because who knows what the hell's going on there. The latest trailer was revealed during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and shows off the mutant action which writer/director Simon Kinberg has in store for us. Check it out above!

DARK PHOENIX will see the return of James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. We've also got Jessica Chastain as the mysterious villain who is quite interested in Jean Grey's untapped potential. Given the much publicized reshoots (a normal procedure on blockbusters) as well as Fox pushing the release date back three times, it's understandable to be concerned about DARK PHOENIX, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our last outing with the X-Men before the inevitable Marvel reboot will be a fun ride.

The official synopsis for DARK PHOENIX:

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

DARK PHOENIX will hit theaters on June 7, 2019.
