Let's all take a break from coronavirus-related news, shall we?
Recently filmmaker Kevin Smith shared a rumor that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) could appear in Marvel's upcoming sequel to SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME. To put things into perspective, Smith insists that all he did was read something on the internet, and then repeat it to his friend, Marc Bernadin, via the Fatman Beyond podcast.
When speaking about the upcoming Spidey sequel, Smith said:
I heard another piece of good fuckin' news. Did You hear that Spider-Man, the new Spider-Man movie, gonna have a lawyer in it? … Charlie Cox, they're bringing in as Matt Murdock. That's been the rumor online and they say that's like the one that like Marvel's like god damn it how did that get out?
Naturally, it didn't take long for entertainment outlets and fans to take Smith's words out of context. Upon realizing that the internet is going to internet, the View Askewniverse mastermind took to Twitter to clarify his previous statement:
Perspective: While I, too, hope this rumor is true, please remember that I only talked about it with @marcbernardin on #FatManBeyond after I read about it on the internet, just like everyone else. This means I have no inside info. Much like everybody else, I’m just a hopeful fan. https://t.co/t8Kn080UIY

While no plans to include The Man Without Fear in Spider-Man 3 have been officially announced, it's worth noting that Netflix has previously agreed to a deal that would allow Marvel to feature their characters as a part of the MCU. Ah, but there's a catch. According to the agreement, Netflix remains in control of its Marvel characters for at least two years. In other words, because DARDEVIL was cancelled in late 2018, that means that Marvel can't include Daredevil in an MCU feature until later this year. Math. Sometimes, it really sucks.
Now, this is just for shits and giggles, but what if Murdock arrives on the Spider-Man scene as Peter Parker's lawyer? Perhaps the Lawyer of Hell's Kitchen will defend Parker in a case of mistaken identity, with regard to Mysterio revealing Peter's web-slinging alter-ego during the post-credits scene for SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME? To be clear, this is just me spit-balling. That said, who's to know, right?
What do you think about the possibility of Matt Murdock appearing in Spider-Man 3? Would you like to see it happen, or do you think this rumor is nothing more wishful thinking? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
