The End of the F—ing World creator in talks to direct Power Rangers reboot

Power Rangers, reboot

After the lackluster performance of Dean Israelite's POWER RANGERS at the box-office in 2017, plans for multiple sequels were scrapped and the franchise (along with other Saban brands) was sold to Hasbro in a multi-million dollar deal, but according to THR, the Power Rangers are set to get the reboot treatment once again.

This time around, it will be Jonathan Entwistle who will develop the new reboot set up at Paramount Pictures. Entwistle, who is best known for directing and executive producing Netflix's The End of the F—ing World, is in early negotiations to direct the film, which is said to involve time-travel as the Power Rangers travel back to the 1990s and have to find their way back to the present ala BACK TO THE FUTURE. The script is currently being written by Patrick Burleigh (PETER RABBIT 2: THE RUNAWAY). Entwistle is currently in post-production on I'm Not Okay With This, an upcoming Netflix series which he co-created, directed, and executive produced. The series stars Sophia Lillis (IT) as Sydney, "a teenage girl navigating the trials and tribulations of high school while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken deep within her."
