Stranger Things season four looking to restart production by late September

Stranger Things, Netflix

Much like just about every movie and TV show out there, production on the fourth season of Stranger Things was halted earlier this year due to COVID-19, but according to Deadline, the series may be preparing to get back to work. The outlet has heard that the fourth season of the Netflix series is currently eyeing a September 28th restart in Georgia, but that the date is tentative and subject to change.

While speaking with THR last week, Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas on Stranger Things, said that it wasn't sure when production would resume. "Hopefully this year, but it may be next year," said McLaughlin. "We have no idea." Either way, we probably shouldn't expect to see the fourth season of the series until late 2021 at the earliest. We're going to be getting into some season three spoilers below, so consider yourself warned.

Speaking of the fourth season of Stranger Things, we already know that David Harbour will be returning as Jim Hopper despite his apparent death at the close of the third season. The actor spoke with Total Film where he revealed that he had always known that Hopper would pull a Gandolf.

I knew. We knew. We had talked about it. I just wanted to preserve the fantasy for everyone. And it’s such a weird position that we’re in now with so much media, that everybody wants to talk to you about it.

"I’ve had those discussions with them from the very first season," said Harbour. "We were always interested in that idea of the Gandalf resurrection – Gandalf the Grey who fights the Balrog and then becomes Gandalf the White. It’s the idea of the resurrection of the character. And mythologically, Hopper, in a sense, had to change. I mean, you couldn’t go on the way he was going on. He has to resurrect in some way. So it was a great opportunity to do that. So we’ll see a very different guy going forwards. The same guy but in a different vein. It’s a very cool thing to be able to play."
