Star Wars: Andor won’t include Alan Tudyk as K-2SO in the first season

Lucasfilm has plenty of Star Wars projects in various stages of development for Disney+, including a prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that will find Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andor. Production on Star Wars: Andor is currently underway, but it seems that Andor's droid pal K-2SO won't be a part of the series, at least for now.

Close to two years ago, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced that Alan Tudyk would be reprising the role of K-2SO for the Cassian Andor series, but while speaking with Collider recently, Tudyk revealed that he's not in the series at the moment, but the plan is to include him should the series span multiple seasons.

They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there.

Alan Tudyk added that series creator Tony Gilroy has a plan for his character. "I'm going to be in the show. It's just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on," Tudyk teased. "I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season." Getting to see K-2SO again was definitely a highlight of Star Wars: Andor for me, but if we have to wait a little longer than expected, I suppose I can hold out. The franchise has been knocking it out of the park on the small-screen, so I've got my finger's crossed that Star Wars: Andor continues the trend.

In addition to Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Star Wars: Andor will also star Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. The series is expected to consist of twelve episodes and will debut in 2022.
