Well folks, we may be worrying about the day when Marvel puts out a movie met with bad reviews, but the early reactions to SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING prove that day is far off indeed. Critics and reporters got to check out the movie two weeks before the rest of us, and so far virtually every reaction has been oozing with praise for the new flick. People are praising the movie’s humor, action, high school setting and, of course, the leading performance by Tom Holland. You can check out some of the reactions, including several from JoBlo’s Eric Walkuski, who says this is by far the best SPIDER-MAN movie ever. That’s high praise.
Take a look!
.@TomHolland1996 is so good in this role, I'd see a dozen more #Spiderman movies. Like, tonight. They just got the character so right.

The tone is perfect throughout; the high school comedy stuff 100% works, and the superhero action is genuinely exciting and looks great.

Neglected to mention the great Michael Keaton in my #Spiderman rants. He's super cool and The Vulture is a mean villain. @SpiderManMovie

And yes, since so many are asking, @Zendaya is really, really good and *very* funny. Her reactions are often priceless. @SpiderManMovie

#SpiderManHomecoming is one of the best Marvel movies and the best Spider-Man movie, period. So completely terrific, a true crowd pleaser.

Also: #SpiderManHomecoming had a good ol' classic teen comedy hidden in there, which was a goddamn delight.

#SpiderManHomecoming felt just like reading a Marvel comic book — other heroes appear, heart-stopping twists, and bursting with humor. pic.twitter.com/Hx3tzBsaNB

The high school stuff really works. It feels authentic (and diverse) in ways big studio hs films rarely do. Teenage Peter is a delight!!

#SpiderManHomecoming is SUCH a good time. Fun, inventive action w/ some of the best humor in a Marvel film yet. Great start for MCU Spidey! pic.twitter.com/8kTnG6wtO2

Much like the trailers have been demonstrating, HOMECOMING doesn't seem to be a movie that's too concerned with connecting to the greater MCU, and is instead just trying to be the best SPIDER-MAN movie it can be. Sounds like it's achieved that, delivering a movie that's an absolute blast and treats the character right. I wouldn't expect much info on Thanos or the Infinity Stones, but you can expect a belly full of laughs and some adrenaline-pumping action.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING arrives July 7.
