I know we all thought the trend of teasers for trailers had gone by the wayside, but here we are with one for the upcoming DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. But, unlike many trailer teasers that show us a bunch of short shots from the film, this is a simple and effective hint at what is to come. Showing only a shot of the forest, presumably the same one from the ending of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, we hear a voice demanding to speak with Caesar.
Could this be the voice of Jason Clarke? Knowing the plot to DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES has to do with a conflict between the apes and humans, could this be from some sort of peace negotiation in the film? Based on the footage screened during the panel at this year’s Comic Con it appears that Clarke is likely the voice in this scene. Count me intrigued.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Matt Reeves has a lot to live up to after the surprisingly good RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Will he keep the style the same as the reboot or could DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES be the ALIENS of the series? Expect to find out more when the full trailer debuts on Wednesday, December 18th.
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES starring Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, and Judy Greer hits theaters on July 11, 2014.
